Effective 3 October 2026

Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Tovena.

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Tovena, a shared calendar and coordination application operated by MODES AS, organisation number 936 044 654, Velliveien 7A, 1358 JAR, Norway.

Email: contact@modesgroup.com

By creating an account or using Tovena, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.

2. The service

Tovena allows users to create and participate in shared groups and coordinate information such as:

Tovena may also optionally show events from calendars already on your device alongside Tovena events. If you deliberately choose “Copy to Tovena” and then save the event, the copied fields become normal Tovena group content. External calendars are not automatically kept in sync with Tovena afterwards.

Features may change as the service develops.

3. Eligibility and accounts

Tovena accounts are intended for adults who have legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

You may access your account using a linked sign-in method, which may include email and password, Google Sign-In, and/or Sign in with Apple, depending on how your account is set up.

You must provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials and linked sign-in methods secure. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless the activity resulted from circumstances outside your reasonable control.

You must notify us at contact@modesgroup.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

Children and dependants represented in Tovena do not currently receive their own accounts.

4. Shared groups

Tovena is designed around shared groups. Information you add to a group may be visible to other active members of that group. This may include, as applicable, member and dependent profiles, events, notes, location or address text, participants, responsibility information, Event Updates, attachments, and shared lists.

Before adding information about another person, you must reasonably ensure that you are entitled to provide that information, that the information is appropriate for the group’s purpose, and that you do not unnecessarily disclose sensitive or private information.

You are responsible for choosing who you invite to your groups and for sharing join codes or invitations appropriately.

5. Group roles and ownership

Groups may contain different roles and permissions. A group owner has additional control over the group, including certain ownership and deletion actions.

If you own a group and want to delete your Tovena account, you must first either transfer ownership of the group to another eligible member or delete the group. We do not automatically choose a new owner on your behalf.

6. Events and responsibilities

Tovena allows users to assign or request responsibility for events and to add Event Updates and related collaboration activity. These are coordination features only.

Tovena does not guarantee that a person will see a request, accept a responsibility, attend an event, perform an assigned task, read an update, or act on a reminder or notification.

Users remain responsible for communicating and coordinating anything that is important, urgent or safety-critical.

Tovena should not be relied upon as an emergency, medical, safety or other critical alert system.

7. Reminders and notifications

Tovena may provide:

These notifications are for service coordination. They are not advertising or marketing messages.

Delivery can depend on the device, operating system, notification permissions, battery-management settings, network conditions, third-party push infrastructure and other factors outside our control.

We therefore cannot guarantee that a reminder or notification will always be delivered at a particular time.

8. Your content

You retain ownership of content and information that you create and are entitled to own.

This includes content you enter into Tovena and content you deliberately upload, such as photos selected from your device photo library and PDFs or similar documents attached to events. The current version of Tovena does not use the device camera to capture new photos for attachments.

If you copy information from an external device calendar into Tovena and save it, that saved information becomes normal Tovena content and may be visible to the relevant group under ordinary group sharing rules.

You are responsible for the content you create, upload or copy into Tovena, including that it is lawful and appropriate to share with the members of the relevant group. You should not upload or share unlawful, abusive or otherwise inappropriate content.

You give MODES AS a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process, reproduce and display that content only as reasonably necessary to provide Tovena, display shared information to authorised group members, maintain and secure the service, and comply with applicable law.

This licence ends when the content is deleted from Tovena, except where shared content or records properly remain as described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

9. Acceptable use

We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law or address serious misuse.

10. Intellectual property

Tovena, including its software, design, branding and other material created by MODES AS, is owned by or licensed to MODES AS and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

These Terms do not transfer ownership of Tovena to you. You may use the service only for its intended purpose and in accordance with these Terms.

11. Third-party services

Tovena relies on third-party technology and infrastructure. Depending on how you use the service, this may include services provided by Supabase, Expo, Google, Apple, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Sentry and Cloudflare.

The availability of parts of Tovena may therefore depend on systems outside MODES AS’s direct control.

How personal data is processed by these providers in connection with Tovena is described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Service changes and availability

We aim to provide a useful and reliable service, but Tovena is an evolving product.

We may add or remove functionality, make technical changes, temporarily suspend functionality for maintenance or security, discontinue features, or discontinue the service.

Where reasonably possible and appropriate, we will try to give users notice of material changes that significantly affect their use of the service.

We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.

13. Deleting your account

You may delete your account through:

Profile → Privacy & Data → Delete account

You will be asked to confirm your identity using a sign-in method linked to your account. Depending on how your account is set up, this may be your password, Google Sign-In, and/or Sign in with Apple. A recent confirmation may be required before deletion proceeds.

You must first transfer or delete any groups that you own.

Deleting your account does not necessarily delete shared group content previously added to groups. Shared events, Event Updates, attachments, lists and other relevant history may remain available to other group members. Where a historical membership needs to remain, your account identity may be removed and the person displayed as “Former member.”

Deletion does not guarantee erasure of all shared group history.

For more detail, see the Privacy Policy.

14. Termination

You may stop using Tovena at any time.

We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of serious or repeated violation of these Terms, unlawful activity, security threats, requirements imposed by law or a competent authority, or discontinuation of the service.

15. No professional or critical-service advice

Tovena is a calendar and coordination tool. Information in Tovena does not constitute medical, legal, financial or other professional advice.

Tovena is not designed to provide emergency services or guaranteed delivery of critical notifications.

16. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, MODES AS is not responsible for indirect loss arising solely from temporary service interruptions, failure of device or push notifications, information entered incorrectly by users, content uploaded by users, actions or omissions of other group members, or unauthorised access caused by a user’s failure to protect their credentials or linked sign-in methods.

Any limitation in these Terms applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory Norwegian and EEA consumer law.

17. Privacy

Our processing of personal data is described in the Tovena Privacy Policy.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary, including because of changes to Tovena, legal or regulatory requirements, security considerations, or changes to the way the service operates.

For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice where required or appropriate. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.

19. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Norwegian law, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.

Nothing in these Terms removes rights that a consumer cannot waive under applicable law.
